I have been experimenting with a new material - Corian - the marble-like material used for expensive kitchen worktops. The material is very hard and usually comes in 1/2 inch sheets - it can be sawn and sanded but requires some special tools for turning.
I have been experimenting with different glues and construction methods. I initially tried layers of segments but that wasted a lot of material. So I started to use concentric rings - much easier and less waste.

I am now experimenting with sheet Corian cut at an angle into concentric rings. This takes the whole feel away from ceramics and makes the finished article unique.
